Inspired by the work of Frank Frazetta and the cinematic masterpiece LifeForce by Tobe Hooper, this was my first attempted oil painting in twenty years and it was a humbling experience that thankfully photoshop helped me bring to a satisfying completion. A lone surviving astronaut on an alien ship, his blood drawing in space-vampire women like sharks to a shipwreck.
Part of the balancing act was coming up with a set design that could be quickly put up and represented the character who owned the place. Mainly, her business was a front so she had only put enough effort into her presentation space as needed to sell her brand. The props and wall decoration were minimal, so each had to have as much meaning as possible.
